I am a husband and father first because family means everything to me. I'm a proud army veteran who was born and raised on the southside of Chicago and have been an active Macon-Bibb County resident for over 30 years. My family and I are members of Greater Lizzieboro Baptist Church. It was my grandmother who instilled in me a passion for service and a dedication to the community.
I received my Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the Fort Valley State University. I am a proud Wildcat and love my alma mater. I obtained my Master's of Public Safety Administration from Columbus State University.
I have attended the Georgia Chief of Police Academy, FBI LEEDA Training (PIO), Virginia FEMA - Emergency Management Institute, United States Army Officer Basic Command School, and completed Incident Response to Terrorist Bombing at New Mexico Tech.
As a law enforcement professional for over twenty-five years, I am proud to have spent over twelve years serving our country as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army, Army National Guard, and Army Reserve. I am running for Macon-Bibb County Sheriff to bring our city together and uphold honor, integrity, and accountability in the office.
My extensive law enforcement background also includes military police commander, patrol and traffic officer, narcotics and violent crimes investigator, training officer, holding facility and transportation supervisor, campus police criminal investigation commander, chief of police, and high school and college law enforcement instructor. As a Commander in the Army Reserve, I trained and led soldiers prior to their deployment into Operation Desert Shield. I also managed million-dollar budgets and was responsible for troops on two continents during our country's conflicts. In my role as Chief of Police in two cities, I implemented policies and procedures that improved the agencies' operations.
As the current Director of the Southwest High School Law Academy, I have the privilege of mentoring and teaching students who are passionate about pursuing law enforcement. My students are the future and they must receive our investment of time and knowledge.
We are a family that truly enjoys spending time with one another and making lasting memories. Pictured above is my loving wife Lori, my son Ryan and daughter Londyn, and Cole who's our labradoodle that runs the household. Not pictured is my oldest daughter Jani.
Outside of our busy day-to-day lives, we enjoy traveling as a family, outdoor sporting events, and playing rounds of golf together.
I invite you to join me, Ron Rodgers, as I campaign to be your next Sheriff of Macon-Bibb County.
Together We Can!
